I know, I know, The New is so close, but sometimes I just want to get outside quickly... There has to be some secret spots around Charleston, maybe even some not so secret spots. Contact through email if you can't bear to post the riches. Looking forward to the gym opening!

YES, I would love to figure out some places more local to climb as well!  I heard from a local GW student that there may be some 10ft sandstone to boulder near GW, but haven't been to check it out yet.  I'm not sure if there would be access issues if it's the schools property so tread lightly.  But there has to be something awesome near by right?

"Visit scenic LITTLE CREEK PARK and experience its natural beauty during every changing season from April through October. The many hiking trails offer fun and thrills for beginners going at a more relaxed pace to the more exciting and adventurous explorer taking the longer trails. Some of the sights to see are the rock formation known as “Devil’s Tea Table” , the old saw mill and a natural spring." http://www.southcharlestonwv.org/recreation.htm

I have not checked this out myself.  But when I rode my bike up the hill from Kanawha State forest I did see some rock formations out to my left.  I do not know the quality of the rock but more than likely it is a bunch of choss.  Any who if someone wants to check it out the rocks are probably about half way up the hill.  Although you might have to look around for it because it has been a couple of years since I passed it and really looked at it's location.

Take your bike to LITTLE CREEK PARK... you can ride there.
I am telling you the “Devil’s Tea Table” is worth the trip. I was floored when I saw it. Great for bouldering (I haven't used them...not my thing.)

So I know its been a while since you posted this, but I recently found some pretty ok boulderage just behind the middle school that is down the road beyond GW high school.  You have to go behind the fence that is at the backside of the field and follow the most distinct deer path heading to your right if you're looking down the hill.

We should probably keep this on the D.L. because they would probably freak out if too many people were heading back to that area.  If the message board grows too big locally I'll take this topic down so our secret it buried forever!
